How Infant Formula Caused the Death of Lillian Peebles
Lillian Peebles was born on June 21, 2009, via emergency C-section at 25 weeks. The hospital staff fed Lillian a combination of Enfamil and breast milk, not knowing that the cows-milk-based formula caused necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC).
Lillian became seriously ill and died on July 20, 2009. She was 29 days old.

The New York Times Calls Out Abbot Labs for Suppressing the Scandal of Harmful Powdered Baby Formula
This week, The New York Times published an illuminating article, “How Abbott Kept Sick Babies From Becoming a Scandal.” The article’s author describes how multinational company Abbott Laboratories and its lawyers have used “scorched-earth tactics” to keep the poisoning of infants who ingested the company’s powdered formulas hidden and ignored.
JPML to Consider Consolidating Abbott Powdered Formula Lawsuits
The United States Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML) has scheduled a hearing to consider Plaintiff’s motion to transfer eighteen Abbott powdered baby formula lawsuits to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida where they would be consolidated in MDL No. 3037. The court will also hear arguments from plaintiffs who oppose consolidation of these cases. The hearing is scheduled for July 28, 2022.
