The April 20, 2010, explosion and subsequent sinking of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico resulted in the largest accidental oil spill in history. Over the course of several months, more than 150 million gallons of oil were released into the Gulf of Mexico. As a result, tens of thousands of individuals and businesses have been adversely affected.

In response to tremendous political and public pressure, BP agreed to establish a $20 billion compensation fund designed to reimburse those who have suffered economic harm as a result of the oil spill. The fund is being managed by Mr. Ken Feinberg through the newly established Gulf Coast Claims Facility. The experience of dealing with this fund led Levin Papantonio to retaining a team of forensic accountants and economic modelers to assist our clients with the preparation and calculation of their damage claims.
