Yaz, Yasmin, BeYaz, & Ocella Birth Control Litigation

Yaz/Yasmin/Ocella/BeYaz were pushed to the top of the pack as the best-selling birth control pills in the world with the ability to correct PMS-related issues such as bloating, acne and moodiness.  But  rather than receive a safe and effective birth control pill, women were unknowingly exposed to excessive Yaz side effects and risks from the other brands such as heart attacks, strokes, pulmonary emboli, and blood clots (VTE).

Recent scientific publications and regulatory investigations indicate that the Plaintiffs’ scientific evidence to support their claims was firmly established by every single independent study released to date.

The FDA convened an Advisory Committee that, in an overwhelming majority vote, found that the labeling for the drugs was inadequate and needed more information. In another vote, the advisory committee panelists came very close to voting to remove the drug from the market. Last month, the FDA forced Bayer to change the label and include more detailed information about the risk data derived from independent studies.

We believe that the new label still does not provide enough warning to women regarding the drugs’s dangerous side effects. Our firm continues to pursue cases and settle claims related to these dangerous birth control pills and is actively involved in the MDL (MDL 2100, Southern District of Illinois).
